I love afrocks.. I hope she is healthy for you.
Have you found afrocks to be the aggressive snakes they are made out to be? I am curious.. as I love the species.

Re: Rescue: African Rock Python (Python Sebae)
Thanks everyone.
Long night last night. Wasn't able to get out herping untill after dark....
Out in a thick forest with Winslow and our volunteer Mike in the middle of a big thunderstorm was extremely fun, But no snake catching for us last night...
Anyhow the Rock is doing well, we cleaned up her face and she should heal up nicely.
Still keeping her rabbit down (whohoo).
Doc gave her a pretty good clearing on her health check. Once her face heals up she'll be great.
April, to answer your question: The rocks that we have had have been extremely volitile. This new girl is actually the best one as for handling. But you have to remember we normally get them after they have been around the block so to speak.
I think it's Smulkin who has a rock (beautiful I might add). They have had it since a baby and I believe it has behaved nicely for them

Great to hear she's doing well - and am sure she'll continue to recuperate nicely in your care! She's a bit beefier than Neph but we've only had her for a few years - they seem to be very gradual growers compared to some of the other big snakes - which is just fine by us She can still use opaque sterelite 1710's as big hides in the big reptile tub.
Keep us updated on this girl!

Thanks everyone,
I wanted to say something, just quickly,
The paperwork that is used to legally sign the animal into our custody also has a questionare area.
One of the questions is what does this animal eat and how often:
Fed her a rabbit a week for the past year, and a rat a week for the 6 months before.
Remember this person recieved the snake and fed it it's first meal. A rat a week and then up to a rabbit a week(at age 6months mind you) is a bit excessive to me. I think she is a bit big for a year and a half year old.
But then again, we never recieve animals that have had a healthy routine diet before coming to us. So if you were to ask me what some reptiles normal growth should be, I just may not be able to tell you.

Re: Rescue: African Rock Python (Python Sebae)
My bad for some reason I read her age as 11 1/2 not 11/2 as originally posted.
Neph still eats a jumbo rat weekly.
