    Hog Island Boa tub size

I'm thinking of getting a Hog Island Boa, because of their smaller size.
What size Sterilite tub would an adult require?
Would a 41qt be big enough?
Do boas need a tub taller than 6-7"?

Re: Hog Island Boa tub size

    What size would I need?
I would like to use Sterilite tubs, since I can pick them up at Wally world.
I am currently building a rack for ball pythons using 41 qt Sterilites.
I need to know what size tubs an adult hog island boa will require so I can build a rack around the tub dimensions.

    thanks

It really depends on how big your snake grows. My female hoggie is around 6' long and lives in a 4'x2' boaphile cage. The largest size tub that reptiletubs.com has would do fine even for a very large hog island.

A small male may be fine in just a 3' tub.

Re: Hog Island Boa tub size

    I was looking at either the Rubbermaid #5334 (43x19.5x6.7in) or the Sterilite #1895(395/8 x 201/2 x 7 in) or #1996(44 x 193/4 x 63/8 in).
Most people use a 4'x2' enclosure. The #5334 and #1996 are just a few inches smaller than that. I'm just wondering about the height difference.

Re: Hog Island Boa tub size

Height isn't terribly important, but 7" is pretty darn shallow for a boa constrictor, considering that they do grow pretty big around. Reptiletubs.com has really great tubs.. and they are not expensive.

I don't want to sound ungrateful or anything for the replies, but no one is suggesting a size. What size tub would be big enough?

Re: Hog Island Boa tub size

I did say what size.. I don't think those rubbermaid/sterilite will cut it because they are so shallow.

Again, a male probably would be fine in a 3' tub, female likely 4'.

Re: Hog Island Boa tub size

For my male boa who is on the large size at 6.5', I use the VE-175 from Reptile Tubs. Works awesome, easy to clean and heat and enough room to stretch out(you or the boa...)

One ran me about $60 including shipping, but it was worth it.
