eating old mice

Julius last week managed to kill a mouse and not eat it. She kept the mouse with her in her hide, so I didn't go in to get it. (this was around 11pm)

The next morning I went in to see her and she had just started to eat the mouse. Can the mouse get any sort of infection from being left out like that for 8 or 9 hours? I dont know if she could have gotten some sort of parasite from it.

The reason I worry is because she has refused two feedings since the incident, and she has never refused a feeding before - at least not like that by any means

Any ideas?

9 hours doens't seem long enough for it to decompose/ accumulate flies/maggots or anything like that. Maybe something else in your husbandry is not correct

everything is perfect! she always has clean water, temps/humidity are perfect, she has two hides, plenty of stuff to climb on!

Wait another week or two and try again. Was it a large mouse?

no.. it was actually rather small.. small-medium at best

i would think you would be fine. i would deffinatly not leave one in there for more than 24 hours.

Even though waiting 8-9 hours will not bring flies and other bugs but when if regormortis sets I hear it can decompose in the gut of you snake and will make your snake go off feed untill the "food" is properly decomposed or make your snake sick. But I'd take it into the vet if she doesnt feed by the next feeding, just to be sure.
