Wink Incubator out of a mini Fridge?????

Hello everyone! I may score big on a glass front fridge to make into an incubator for this upcoming year!! I am so excited about this, check it out and tell me what you think. The woman is asking $60 dollars for the fridge it is brand new and she still has the box for it. Should I or shouldn't I?? Here is the pic.

I've got something similar it just doesn't have the glass. I haven't turned it into an incubator yet but I will soon.

Sounds like a good deal to me if you are only having a few clutches a year, but if you are planning on more than 5 or 6 clutches at a time, I would go for something bigger. The glass door is nice though, let us know if you end up getting it.

Yeah Evan I noticed it didn't have much space but it was free , I'm thinking I'll be alright for the first two year's of breeding. I'll probably only need it for 2 to three clutch's.

It looks like itll work fine. Even if you build a wet incubator (cooler with an aquarium heater etc) itll still cost you close to $45 and it will only fit a couple clutches. Sounds like a good deal for a couple years

That would be great IMO; especially since the door is glass and you are going to have to peek into the thing every 5 minutes (if you're like me, hehe.)

Wink Re: Incubator out of a mini Fridge?????

    Thanks everyone!!!
I just called the woman back about the fridge and we sealed the deal. It gets better she is going to deliver it to me. LOL, it was over an hour ride to her house and she is already going to be in my neighborhood this coming weekend. So it works out for both of us. Thanks everyone for your support.

Oh Eva Jameson I am only going to have about three clutches next season.

Anyone who already modified a fridge to incubator throw me a PM and tell me how it worked out. Thank you all again.

Re: Incubator out of a mini Fridge?????

Oh I think that would be perfect! Glad you made the deal and she's even dropping it off to you.

Here's a link I had in my favorites list. Hopefully it will be of some help. I can't verify if these instructions are good as I've not tried them out yet but take it for what it is. Cue and some others here have made really nice incubators out of old fridges/freezers so they would likely be able to say if these instructions are reasonable to follow.

When you consider the cost of the following incubator I think you got a really good deal if you can rehab that $60.00 unit into a workable incubator. I've seen Casey's incubators btw and believe me they are fantastic...wish I could afford one myself for this coming season...very well constructed! (click on the Incubator link on the left side of the home page)
