How many holes do i drill... How many and how big?
see above DO MIST your newspaper ...I can heartily recommend it having bloods myself it works trust me.
regarding holes you need enough to allow ventilation and I would drill approx 5 milimeter holes but I dont use that particular tub so lets see what people that use them say.
My male blood is way too big for any tub now he is in a large 6ft tank.
part of my problem with misting newspaper is knowing how much to mist it and how often... I don't want to have to do it twice a day? (Ofcourse if I had I would!)

ok look at this way .........Monitor your Humidity levels ok ....your looking for normal levels of 50 to 60 % standard (ie) MOST OF THE TIME this is what your aiming for in regular set up without having to mist extra.......when they are in shed mode ....you can raise this to 75 to 80% for short periods.
if your struggling to get that spray at night time before you go to bed till the paper is wet ( not soaked ) again Monitor the humidity level and see what it pans out at.
It may take you a couple of weeks to see what works best if you can get around 50 0r 60% during the day and it sits at that for the most part just spray a little water at night and that should be enough.
You will know how well it is working after the 1st shed. But as I said when you notice a shed coming on spray a little more maybe once in the morning and once at night to raise it higher.
put some not alot of holes in the tub, get everything setup put the thermometer in there and see what the humidity is, if its too high then put some more holes in. Remember you can make more holes but you cant take them away.
WHY the devil would you mist your newspaper! That's what they have to move on! Our humidity is perfect with just crowley's large ceramic bowl! The water evaporates, and we refil it once the water gets less than half way (cleaning it anytime particles look like they're in it and a final scrub every weekend).
Why not mist the sides of the tub or keep a wet sponge on top of the hides (we tried that also with success but found it unnecissary).
Directly wetting their substrate's not a great idea imo unless there's something about bloods scootchin around on wet ground as a part of their natural enviroment. Sounds like a cause for belly rot in the future for me...
