A few Emma pics
I have a few new shots of Emma.. just by her lonesome. She is really calming down a lot now with motherhood; she listened to me today instead of just running off like she used to; we are taking small steps toward a trusting relationship. The people who owned her in her formative years, we were told, were so ignorant that they let her get away with anything; we are working on setting boundaries with her, while building trust and a leader relationship with her.
My friend pretty-much wrote her off as an airheaded, useless horse. I know she is much better than that. I love to go just hang out with her; braiding her mane, grooming off those dark patches of hardened mud from when she rolls.. she's awesome.
This pic makes me sad; she looks so lonesome and no one is around.. like the end of summer.

Awh, that's beautiful... she's beautiful... I'd somehow missed that she was a rescue! Keep up the good work with her, Jen!

Re: A few Emma pics
In a nutshell, here's what happened. My friend was boarding her and another mare for some people; they stopped paying their board fee and skipped town for some state that began with I (Iowa? Or maybe Idaho?) My friend sent them about 10 registered-mail letters saying that if there was no response by Oct. 31, 2004, that year (one of my favorite dates!) then ownership would go to her and she could sell them to makeup for the lost board fees.
Well, the other mare she was with ended up going to auction.. I really think Emma would have gone the same route. People seemed to think she was a ditzy, skitzo horse who wasn't worth any time; we are doing a lot with her though it is tough with her baby boy in tow; I want to get her into some serious training next year.
Here are some ancient pics! (from last year, hehe) of her at our other friend's training place, where she was introduced to the idea of being ridden!
