    I think he's tramatized.

Well i got this new BP for my girlfrien about a week ago because the last one was very ill and didnt eat. My girlfriend has given me custody of her snake for about a week because i told her its best not to handle them for a while and now she's gonna be gone for another week. Now i have to bp mine is very active has eaten once and is due again on monday. My girlfriend's snake doesnt come out of his hide at all but i did feed him on thursday and he ate without hesitation. The petshop where i bought him from told me that they feed him every like 3-4 days i tought that was a bit to much but then i saw the guy force feed him. I personally chose this snake because he seemed the most active but i think that he got a little tramatized by the force feeding that he doesnt want to come out. I havent handled him a lot only to take him out of tank to feed him but every little motion I did startled him. Should i give him a little more handling dates? Or what do you guys think.

    Re: I think he's tramatized.

Well, I've only had my little guy for about a month but I do know that they a shy by nature. I'm sure that some are more active than others, but for the most part I think it is normal for them to spend their time curled up in their hides - that is what mine does. They are nocturnal so perhaps your snake is out and about more so at night.

As for feeding, every 3-4 days so too frequent to me. I feed mine once a week. I know that by overfeeding you could trigger a fast. You said you fed the snake and he ate with no problems, right? If the snake is eating okay why on earth would they force feed him?!? Argh! One more reason I don't care much for pet stores selling animals.

I would suggest you stop listening to the pet shop people, most pet shops have NO CLUE when it comes to careing for animals (not saying all but alot are like this). Some Balls are different than others, some will be out and about more and some will hide all day until they decide to come out. Just relax and feed once a week. Its still adjusting to its new home, give it more time and youll see him out. Good Luck

Should I wait till I can handle him then because i was planning on spending this week trying to get him adjusted to being handled.

I would wait until hes eating regularly and just give him a week or 2 to settle in.
