do you think this will be ok?(pic)
This is my 7ft JCP's cage. The measurements are 24w x 24d x 48h. I was thinking of putting a live ficus tree in it. What do you all think. Safe or Not. I am also concerned about the heat lamp burning the tree or will the tree thrive from this. Or should I just stick with fake trees. Thanks for your input.

Maybe you should turn it around so it's 48x24x24. JCPs aren't completely arboreal and they need a temperature gradient. But it might be fine, I'm not an expert. Check these.

looks very nice... but i agree with bpkid... you may want to turn that thing sideways... a JCP needs more lateral space, less vertical space.
as for live plants, i've gotten mine too close to lights and the leaves die and fall off, but if you kept it on the opposite side of the enclosure, it could be very beneficial. i'm a big fan of live vs plastic plants.

Yes, but some more length won't hurt. :p

He seems to like his cage. He's either on the branches or in his tub of water. The only time he uses his hide is after a meal or if he's getting ready to shed. Never had a problem with temps or humidity. Besides the day lamp he also has a ceramic heater for night time and flex watt under his hide. He's only skipped meals during the winter which was about a month in a half. He feeds on f/t jumbo rats.

If you mhave a temp gradient then you should be fine. Whats the warm spot temps, and cool spot temps?

looks like a really good setup to me...heat coming from top and if it's too hot your 7' JCP can go lower on the branches like bpkid was talking about the highs and lows and humidity your snake will tell you what you want to know by where it is in the cage and I believe both those links should tell you that they aren't 100% to the letter did you just get it or have you had it since a baby?
