Re: First Eggs!
VERY cool!! I don't believe I've ever seen a picture of a beardie laying before! And 21 eggs? (plus a few slugs???) She musta been one chunky mamma before laying! Poor little thing! LOL

Re: First Eggs!
Wow Celia, I wasn't aware they laid that many eggs either! Lovely to see a rescued animal doing so well she's able to successfully breed, great job you've done with her. How long till the baby dragons will appear?

Re: First Eggs!
Thanks everyone! The day after this girl laid her eggs, her cage mate (a rescue girl as well) laid too! She had 14 good eggs and 2 slugs so we have a nice little group of eggs incubating now! Both this girl and the other one were bred by the same male and both of these were first time clutches. A great job on both moms' parts!
I have heard of more seasoned females laying much larger clutches of eggs. A friend of mine says he has a female that lays 30 to 35 eggs like clockwork.
We put the gravid girls in a large rubbermaid container that is full of this real sandy top soil that we get at our local feed store. They seem to really like the substrate. When we see the females digging we'll take them out and put them in the lay box until they lay their eggs. It's a pretty good sized container and we keep a heat lamp on it and everything. So far, it's worked very well!
Thanks,
Celia
