    new guy here.

My g/f baught a baby normal ball python(edited to make it correct since im a nitwit) today. I guess you can say im a little afriad of handling with the fear of being bit. I dunno why even when i have read alot of posts in these forums all day yesterday and talking with actual owners. I hope i overcome this fear becuase i want him to be social with me as well. He seems to be quite happy in his inclosier checking it out. Ive handled him for maybe 3 min. since he is new here even tho i know they normally ball up that bite i know itll happen. Whats weird when i was young i kept a 5-6 foot wild caught bullsnake used to catch everything i could haha. But Just wanted to say hello and say what a great site with vast info.

Nice! You probably want to leave it alone for a week to let it settle in, though...

P.S. It's ball python, not ball point!

to the site. Don't feel bad about it, just try and get a lot of the folks around here to type snacks. (it comes out snakes )

As for the biting, I can say yet. I haven't been bitten, but I have been bitten by everything from my kids to cats. My son has the best/worst bite so far. I can say that the fear will lessen with time, and handling.

Glad to have ya here, and if you have any questions just let us know.

Welcome to the site and congrats on your first BP. If you and your g/f haven't had a chance to view it yet, here's our caresheet for ball pythons. Good stable husbandry will go a long way to making your new snake happier and healthier. Try to not handle the baby too much until it's eating regularily for you.

    First welcome!

That apprehention of being bit never goes away when it comes to new snakes. But one your guy/girl learns you and you learn his/her temperment. You'll be able to just treat him/her like one of the family. Again welcome come on in kick your shoes off and make yourself at home.
