Unhappy My Ball Python is Burrowing Itself

I have one Ball Python for 1 year now. For the first 10 months he/she hid under his log, now for the last month, he has been burying himself under the substrate. He is eating just fine, and looks fine. He shed two weeks ago.
    Is this normal behavior?

What type of hides do you have in the enclosure?

What's his heat source and how are you measuring the temps (and humidity) in this enclosure?

Hiding spot is the same carved out half log that has been there the whole time that he hid under for 10 months.

Heat source is a pad on the lower, side of the tank. He does not burrow on that side. The hot side is 95ish and the cool side is 80ish. These are the same temps as the last 10 months also.

And how exactly do you know that? We dont even have all the facts yet!
I would recommend getting new hides, that arent as open, so it feels more secure. It is most likely burrowing itself because it feels more hidden or secure when burrowed that it does in its hides. Most people use ceramic or plastic plant dishes with holes cut in them. I'm sure someone will be along soon that can give you a pic of this.

you are NOT all knowing. i dont think there's much wrong with the snake either, he might need tighter hides, but you are definitley not even close to knowing enough to even call yourself knowledgeable when it comes to ball pythons.

i think you ask 20 questions a day because you dont feel like looking them up and answering them for yourself for some reason. its quite annoying really.

Re: My Ball Python is Burrowing Itself

Your snake probably wants more secure hides; nothing more to think about, really. I used to use half-logs myself, but I switched to my favorite type of hide; you can get them right at wally world. They're the plastic "terra cotta" looking trays that go below a flowerpot to catch water; just carefully cut an entrance in (we used a saws-all), sand it down a bit and there you go. Simple to clean after a messy snakey bowel movement, non porous, great.
I do use size-appropriate cardboard boxes for hides too, but unless you're prepared to change them a lot whenever water hits them, I wouldn't recommend.

Easy killer ... why don't you get a little more experience under your belt before you start dishing out advice about what is and isn't fine ... you could end up doing more harm than good.
