    found little black bug

So i had baby out for some play today and was looking her over. I found 2 tiny little black bugs may'be an inch or so from her head. They just brushed off but I got one trapped under a shot glass till I can get a pic of it. I looked her over really carefully and didn't find any more. So it was about the size of a pin head and black. What is it? Is is trouble? Did it come from the substrate? I'm really really thinking I'm going to switch to newspaper to be safe.

You might even want to get it on paper towels or something else uniform in (light) color to help better assess whats going on.

When you said you had her out did you mean outside or just out of the cage?

Regardless - little living black specks are definitely a cause for action - check closely around the eyes and pits as well. Do you have any other snakes?

    Re: found little black bug

well she's now in a completely clean and sterile cage. No bugs anywhere on her or in the cage. She took a while to inspect her new paper towel cage but now shes safely tucked away in her hide. I may keep it like this just so I know she's always clean and healthy.

    thx for your help everyone

    Re: found little black bug

I would recomend you sprinkle a LITTLE bit of Sevin dust 5% in the cage and letting it sit for an hour or so to air out then put the snake back in. It will kill any bugs in the cage and when you put him back in it should take any hidden bugs off of him. Never had to use it but if I had a mite/pest bug problem this is what I would use

Too many boas to list and a few balls as well
