Here are some more pics. I assume these guys are dew lappers and don't need a water dish? Damn cute. Tonight he will be having his meal replacement mixed with baby food peaches...

Re: New Crestie from White Plains

very nice enclosure! they do drink water from the sides of the enclosure, leaves, etc. but you can also provide a shallow water dish for them if you choose. since the enclosure is pretty big you might need to "show" him the food dish after a few days if he doesn't seem to be eating out of it on his own. also, if you can get him to eat the cgd without mixing baby food in with it that would be best. it is perfectly balanced as is and adding baby food actually throws off the balance and adds a lot of unneeded sugar. baby food is fine for a treat once a week or so or to get them eating the cgd if they won't eat it without the added flavor. some of my cresteds were eating baby food flavored cgd when i got them and i just reduced the amount of baby food in the mix over the course of a few months and they all readily eat it now plain. you can also give them mashed fresh fruits--mango, strawberry, watermelon, peaches and bananas are some crested favorites.

Thanks Em! I mixed 1 part cgd with 2 parts water and a little peach baby food and put it in a shallow dish. I showed it to him and he proceeded to jump through it and go back into his tree. I guess its not time for him to eat yet!

lol, yeah that sounds about right. he may not really be too interested in eating at all for the first few days while he explores and gets used to his new home.

but judy, you know that 3 or 4 cresteds would fit so nicely into that big aquarium. a nice group of females in a naturalistic enclosure...aaaah, so nice...

Also, should I take the moss out of there to limit the possibility of impaction?
