    Question LOUD Audible Fart/Defecation...

Ok.. had the poop scared out of me last night.

My oldest BP male was crusing around his cage, 1 day after his shed, and not paying attention to his F/T mouse like the other snakes were and I heard the loudest, wettest sounding fart in the history of the world.

My wife and I both thought something/someone was throwing up, it sounded just like a large dog barfing. So we bring up the white room lights and the BP has his tail straight up in classical "poop posture" and there are a few wet chunks/puddles on the floor and a bit of brown goopy liquid on the sliding doors of his enclosure.

I've heard of BP's farting before but this scared the crap (sorry) out me. Is this anywhere near normal or is something wrong?

Less late night bean burritos and beer!

Just kidding...our bp has done that once and as far as I understand, it happens. Nothing to worry about unless it becomes a pattern...=)

Wait till you hear a 6 foot BCI do that! I swear the first time it happened I thought some wierdo freak had snuck into the house to not only steal my stuff but fart in my general direction! Can't say I've ever heard the BP's do anything that loud but it's not something I'd worry about as long as his urates and defecations are within what would be considered normal.

Good to hear my guy's not the only one that's done such a thing.

Maybe I'll call the guys at Big Cheese Rodent Factory where I buy my feeders and ask if any of the mice they shipped me were mexican. (get it mexican food, see the snake eats the mouse... oh forget it...)

    Thanks!

I had no idea a snake could fart, I mean yeah it's physically possible, but I've never heard about it before. I mean I had no idea...well I guess it didn't cross my mind.

I've heard of blaming it on the dog, but this opens up a whole new world of possibilities!

Funny topic...when its really quite and I'm really concentrating at the computer late at night...I am usually interupted by such sounds from the snake tubs HAHA! My wife's pair of adult bearded dragons, especially the male is very distinquished with his "sounds" and boy what a stink! Pretty much have to clean it up as soon as it comes out or your in for some black out time!
