Hopefull soon. I am really not sure of this ones age.... I think it was actually a hatchling when my daughter brought it home to me, cause it has almost doubled in size since Dec. I cant wait to be able to tell what sex this one is, so much hinges on this one right now, this too, is also its "colored down" stage.. usually this one is a gorgeous bi color chocolate, that seems almost black along the back stripe. Right now, I think it may actually be a girl.... I am hoping I am right.

cute! it is a really interesting color--will be fun to see how it turns out.
jo, you can sex cresteds as early as 3-4 months but it isn't always accurate. if it is male you may be able to accurately sex it at that age based on the presence of enlarged preanal pores (best seen with a jewelers' loupe). at 4-6 months males usually start to develop a bulge but some are late bloomers. females can be tricky to sex for sure until they are at least 9-12 months old because some cresteds look female until this age and then suddenly "drop" (develop a bulge). a very wise person once said "it's not female until it lays eggs."
Do your cresticles hang low do they wobble too and fro..can you tie them in a knot can you tie them in a bow..... can you throw them over your shoulder like a continental soldier....

LMAO omg Jeannie! I nearly spit cinnamon coffee all over my computer monitor!
I'm gonna change the words and go sing that at my male breeder rat, Casanova. He's been a tad depressed since I broke it to him that we have enough young rats for now and he's stuck in the bachelor tub until further notice. LOL

I LOVE it when you laugh that hard!
Poor guy, maybe if you go sing to him he will cheer up.
