Re: My new anaconda (DU warning)
Thanks Jo. I was thinking of maybe a water god.. since he's an anaconda. I'll look for a site with names of gods/goddesses..

How about "Varuna," Hindu God of water?

Re: My new anaconda (DU warning)
Not trying to be controversial but I just have to ask, why is anyone breeding Anacondas? What is the market for a snake that grows that big? I have the same question about Retics, Rocks and Burms. Especially after living in Florida and seeing that the Everglades area has become inundated with snakes that just got too big and people just dropped off. I don't get it and I would love someone to explain it to me.

Apep, Water Snake-Demon of Chaos, Enemy of Ra... Egyptology...
http://www.thekeep.org/~kunoichi/kun...ream/apep.html
He was depicted as a giant water snake, almost always shown being pierced by knives or other weapons or under the control of a deity, so his image would not give the demon power. He was thought by the ancient Egyptians to be over 16m long, with skin as hard as flint. His roar was so loud that it shook the underworld. He was called 'Evil Lizard', 'Opponent of Ra', 'Enemy of Ra', 'World Encircler' and 'Serpent of Rebirth'.

Re: My new anaconda (DU warning)
Jamie....I don't want to get into a discussion about whether or not anyone should breed or keep giant snakes....but in April's situation, she's not keeping giant anacondas. Hers are yellows, which are a lot smaller than the greens, which are the giants we're all familiar with.

Re: My new anaconda (DU warning)
Well honestly, since this is a discussion forum, why not have the discussion? I am not saying people shouldnt keep them, but with so few people that can provide the proper care and can handle a snake that big, why are so many people breeding them? I was not aware that the greens stay that much smaller, so we can say I learned something today. April, sorry for the thread hijacking. The pictures are awesome!

Yellows stay smaller, ya mean. Anyhow...I'm all for the discussion, just not in April's thread. Start a new one in the "Giants" forum.

Hmm... How about "Mark" as in Mark Spitz. That's a water God of sorts. Or am I dating myself?
