I haven't been working with mice too too long but to me that looks like a boy!
If you squeeze him, his testicles will kinda pop out! When my snake squeezes the boys you can see there jewels show!
Also on the girls I've noticed u can see the nipples.
Take a close look at him, but I dont think its a girl!

Re: I'm no expert, but....
It's a BOY, congratulations!
Oh... Sorry But yep, he's definitely a boy. His urethra is much bigger and the distance between that and his anus is bigger than a female's is.
Take the mouse back and smack the store owner with it(don't hurt the mouse though, LoL). It's sad when pet store workers can't even tell the difference between males and females(especially in rats!). I mean jeez! 'Dem things are quite obvious, LoL!

Wow, yeah it's not THAT hard to tell. You'd think a pet store employee would have no problem after seeing hundreds of the things.

Re: I'm no expert, but....
I did take the mouse back, but I felt bad for the poor "kid" that gave him to me. He was incredibly apologetic.
I did some reading online and saw that if your carfeful when you push the mouse's belly the testicles will protrude a little. So when I went to the store we worked on separating the males and females. He gave me one for free, too.
Not sure if we got um all right, but hey I got some free food for Karazi.

Re: I'm no expert, but....
Male rats can actually suck their testicles up into them under 8 weeks ... im sure the same goes for mice. Ive mistaken some of my feeders that way (I normally feed males). Now at 4 weeks I start trying to figure it out. Anything that is questionable is put into a seperate container.
Ive had to educate a couple store employees and a few of their customers. One girl actually squeezing a rats testicles while asking what they were ... that rat wasnt very happy ::grins::
To be somewhat politically correct while in stores I usually refer to testicles as tires ... you can tell thats a male rat ... it has 2 spare tires.

Re: I'm no expert, but....
Once you see enough rat/mouse butts you don't mistake the sexes anymore, no matter how young they are.
Instead of squeezing the 'tires' you can let the rat/mouse sit on your hand or any level surface.. they only tend to suck their tires in if they are held up by the tail.
