    scales

Recently as I was holding Karazi, I noticed that if I touch her belly from tail torwards head gently I sometimes get pricked by a scale. This has also happened on occasion as I initially pick Karazi up. Nothing noticable is sticking up its as she moves sometimes they feel as if they stick up but then settle back down. This is such a newbie question, I know, just curious if this sounds normal. She is due for a shed its been about 5 weeks since Karazi shed last. Anyway...

    Re: scales

you dont want to touch them from tail to head. that bends their scales up. you could hurt them by doing that

Thanks, I would never want to intentionally or unintentionally in that matter hurt Karazi.

    Re: scales

Its sort of like petting a bird....one way its smooth, the other way you ruffle its feathers. Its like that with snakes. If your snake seems to "twitch"mits muscles when you pet it a certain way, its probably telling you it doesn't like that. Your are in a good place though, as there is no questuin that should be left unasked when it comes to a new snake owner. you are doing the right thing.
