Re: The new suris
Oh wow they are BEAUTIFUL!! Every time I see pics of red tails I want one more!! Do you know how old they are?? And this is probably a dumb question, but is there a reason their colorations are so different (is it an age difference)?

Re: The new suris
I don't know their ages.. the male is probably around 2 years old.. and the female 4 maybe.
Coloration varies a lot from snake to snake. Age does have something to do with it. Red tails tend to darken and dull with age, however, I have seen 8' females with brighter color than my male has now.
I couldn't get the awesome color of the male to show in the pic. He has very pink and lavender sides.

That's really cool, I didn't realize there was so much color variation between boas that are the same...err....breed (for lack of a better word? =P).

Re: The new suris
Species, not breed.
Yeah there's a huge variety in color/pattern. You can see that the female has (almost) no widow's peaks in her pattern (the lighter circles on her back look like this ( ) while the male has moderate widow's peaks (his circles look more like this { }) my young female has super widow's peaks. -{}-
That's why picking quality breeding stock is important.

Gorgeous snakeys gotta love those tails.
Are Suri's the Redtails that tend to keep the tail coloring more than other types - and does it differ between the sexes? I really love these boas the tails are so striking.

Re: The new suris
Razaiel - surinames (and all BCC boas for that matter) do keep color much better than BCI (colombians, nicaraguans, etc) on average. Gender has nothing to do with it.
