Here's Cuesta.. we got her to be a companion for Emma, our other mare. Cuesta is actually much more calm and reliable than Emma to ride. She is a breeding stock paint, no papers (typical, huh? around 5 yrs old.
She has a sad past. Years ago, someone poisoned her herd with antifreeze, and her former owners lost a bunch of horses. She survived, but still has an odd twitch to her fromt leg/chest area sometimes. She is fine to ride though, and was actually used at a kids' riding camp last summer. She is dependable and calm under most circumstances, and was even used for jumping. Though we are not doing anything more than light trail riding with her. I know she looks a bit thin, but ya should have seen her last fall; she was a bag of bones. She takes alot to keep her fattened up, but we are giving her grain daily and as much hay as she can stuff down her throat
I have to add, these pics were taken a few days ago.. can you believe we had temperatures near 60 degrees here, in january, in western NY???!!?!!?

And a shot of Emma so she doesn't feel left out
