I confess this Phys.org article was hard for me to follow, but what I got from it was that parthenogenic reproduction is not necessarily the evolutionary dead end that scientists previously thought. Blind snakes are able to repair their DNA in a way that prevents the accumulation of harmful mutations. Studying how blind snakes repair their DNA could provide insights into possible treatments for human genetic conditions. So, it turns out that blind snakes are even cooler than we thought.
