Internation Herpetological SymposiumRegistration is open! The first Symposium of Captive Propagation and Husbandry of Reptiles and Amphibians was held in June 1976. That evolved into what we know today as the International Herpetological Symposium (IHS). The 46th meeting of the IHS will be in Knoxville, Tennessee. The city is also home to Zoo Knoxville (IHS tour/banquet on June 21) and nearby herping in Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Each year the IHS is held in a different location. Its purpose is to disseminate information and research pertaining to the natural history, conservation biology, captive management, and propagation of amphibians and reptiles. IHS also seeks to build a community open to all individuals interested in reptiles and amphibians.
