Re: Ideas for climbable spaces
You can also install a ramp. I'd brace the low side against the front lip of the enclosure and let the high end rest against the back wall. I'd use a board that's 1/2 inch thick and 6 or 8 inches wide. The length would depend on how high you want it to reach.

Hey, by the way Cisco, before you build something like a "second-story" hide- you can try out this & other designs with large clean corrugated cardboard boxes (modified as needed) & see what he likes, although cardboard is fairly lightweight & won't feel as stable to your snake. More importantly, the tops are slippery unless you use carpet on top as previously discussed.
Cardboard is disposable though- when it's soiled, it's trash. I get a lot of things shipped to me & I often repurpose clean sturdy boxes for some of my snakes, in addition to their 'real' hides. I have a box-cutter in almost every room, lol.
Extra large & fairly low cardboard hides can have a cozier hide inside them- some snakes really dig that, & you can also cut an extra doorway in the large over-head box. I change things up for some of my snakes (mostly rat snakes, also a rosy boa, & spotted python) & they seem to enjoy exploring. BPs seem more partial to the status quo, but they're not all the same either. Just one more way to get creative though, whether to use as is or as a prototype to build later.
Rudeness is the weak man's imitation of strength.
