    Herpstat 2 Issue - Help

I have two animal plastic PVC enclosures for my ball pythons both are being heated by pro products RHP.

I purchased a Herpstat 2 from a local breeder that was having health issues and liquidating everything he had. He told me the Herpstat 2 was perfect and right at a year old and it looks brand new. I got both tanks plugged into it the proper outputs. One is fine but output 2 will not regulate the heat at all and the temperature is constantly going over 90°.

Both outputs are set to Dimming.

I contacted spydet robotics, but their support is not great as it only operates via email which is just not helpful at all… They had me plug in a lamp to each output outlet, and it was fine for the first output, but the lamp will not power on at all in output outlet number 2. Which is strange because the heat panel absolutely is heating up and is very hot to the touch..

I’ve tried doing a master reset several times and I have all the configurations set properly and when I remove the probe, I do get a probe error but I’m just trying to figure out if this unit is completely shot and if I need to buy a new one.

Anyone familiar with how these work?

    TIA

Dion at Spyder will take in units for repair if the trouble shooting he recommended doesn't fix it. It wouldn't be under a warrantied repair since you aren't the original buyer, but it's likely Dion can fix it for less than buying a new thermostat. I sent one in for repairs when it wouldn't set the date/time and affected the ability to use the night drop feature. I think he had it back to me within a week or so after I sent it out.

Curious how it was resolved. Would be helpful to share in the event that others have a similar issue with their herpstats

Please do pass along the fix.

I have that exact unit and mine is 10 years old.

I really should power everything down next summer when the room is warm and clean all of the contacts, the probes and blow out any dust in the units.

If I am not mistaken, if the stat does malfunction it isn't supposed to fail "hot" so your panel should ideally not run. An overheat is far more dangerous than a cold period, at least for a short duration.

Now that you brought this up, I may nose around here in the search section and see what's happened, if anything, and see what the fixes were.

I'm glad the issue has resolved though. That's good news.
