    Heating acrylic enclosure

I am building a custom acrylic enclosure for my BP. I have read that heating acrylic will release fumes that can harm and possibly kill any reptile that is in the enclosure. Does anyone know how I can still heat the enclosure without causing harm/death to my BP?

A thermostat regulated UTH shouldn't heat the acrylic above 90F. That's not even warm to the touch. I can't imagine that it will off-gas at that temperature. If you use an RHP, that will heat the acrylic more, but, properly regulated, still less than 150F. I'd be more cautious doing that. I found this acrylic enclosure for sale on-line. They put an aluminum screen in the top for the heat lamps, so I suppose that's also an option.

    Re: Heating acrylic enclosure

I will caution you against putting your bp in a clear acrylic enclosure like the one I linked above. That may stress it by leaving it over exposed. Chronic stress leads to health problems sooner or later.
