    Blue Urate???

Exactly what it says. I was changing out my BP’s bedding and found a tiny, wet, blue lump that looks like waste. I genuinely don’t know where to go from here. He ate on Sunday, all his poops/urates have been perfectly normal and I even cleaned some regular ones out this morning+last night. But this one is blue?????

I’m trying to figure out how to attach images, look in replies for photo

Try using the Tapatalk app to upload photos. Who do you get your feeders from? A friend just mentioned odd blue/green urates from some of their animals possibly attributed to a feeder supplier yesterday

I'll try, my phone is being awful so I'm at my computer now. For reference, it's what I'd describe as "nerds candy" blue. Robin's egg blue. Like it's VERY distinct.

I get my feeders from petsmart, brand is arctic mice I believe. NEVER had a problem with them before, I've been using them for a few months

He's been acting completely normal, and there wasn't anything else that stood out about it (smell, texture, size, shape) it's just... it's a little blue urate.

That's wild! I've never seen or heard of that before.

That's really pretty- just like robin's eggs. Had to be something they fed the rodents- likely "fake food" (w/ food-coloring?) like those multi-color "treats" they sell for hamsters & such? I really doubt they fed them blueberries...

You might expect this from a rainbow boa....[jkg]

Seriously, I've seen pale (dull) greenish ones but not blue like this. TKS for photo. It's probably just from bile salts, but if it persists, or anything health-wise "seems wrong" with this snake, it would be best to ask your vet (to do a fecal exam). Right now I'd say it's likely nothing to worry about- just a "one-off".

Oh wow... I've seen like, really pale blue but nothing that vibrant. One time a really bright orange but usually white, pale yellows or greens and occasional blue.

I was responding to someone on another site that had the pale blue just yesterday.
It does happen from time to time. As long as it isn't a regular occurrence, I wouldn't be too concerned. I've also noticed that sometimes bedding seems to be an issue? Where the urate is is an off white but the bedding can seem to affect the color on the outside at times. I've seen that on cocofiber. Dunno if it has to do with the tanins leeching against it.

Something that bright as was mentioned, probably had to do more with something the feeder ate... But if this happens regularly or the snake starts to behave differently, I would ask for a vet's opinion and consider a blood test
