BPs more active in summer?

This is my first whole summer with my ball python, and as long as I've had him, he's spent most of his daylight hours in his favorite hide. But the last week or so as we've rolled into summer, he's out in the open more, particularly on the hot side, basking under the lamp-- not really actively moving around, just staying put. Surface (88 - 90) and ambient (80-82) temps haven't changed in several weeks. Humidity is consistently regulated between 50% and 60%. Nothing in the enclosure has changed. He's eating regularly (every other week, medium rat). I've read where cleanliness can affect pythons' activity, but I keep his cage clean. Is this normal behavior?

Snakes vary quite a bit, but in general, summer gets most snakes going- they're hungrier. They're perceiving not only the warm temperatures but also the length of day, & most likely, they also sense the barometric pressures that indicate approaching storms. Your buddy sounds pretty normal to me.

It's funny that you mentioned it, I've noticed that my Children's python suddenly became more active too.

Last night my girl had the strongest feeding response I've seen in a while, even though it's only been a week since last feeding.

Summer snake fever is in full effect.
