My coral glow crystal gal has grey on the upper iris and it darkens down to sapphire. Some variation it totally fine.

Thank you for the picture! I am glad to hear it is normal. Hers almost seemed to overlap her pupil which is what really threw me. Behavior gave no signs for concern but I wanted to cover every base.

Light spots in the eyes on snakes tends to reinforce their camouflage- as in the photo above shared by Lord Sorril, the light area is adjacent to light color scales around the eyes. That makes the eyes a little harder to see by the snake's prey (or predators), which in turn helps the snake be more successful at hiding, hunting & overall survival. Not only is it "normal" but it's a good thing.
