    2022 Dominika x Howl Holdbacks

This year I was finally successful in pairing Howl and Dominika! They had 18 healthy babies, 0 slugs or stills. I did get one with a kinked tail, and one with some minor facial deformities, which were pet homed. But I also got some banging holdbacks, that I'll share here. I haven't named any of them yet, as keeping their numbers atm works best while I still have their littermates. I can figure out names and add to notes, but I'm being lazy. lol

The litter was born April 30, so they're just over 7 months old now, and just being bumped to adult mice. They've been fed every 14 days since birth, with only a couple occasions doing 7 days.

First up, my favorite of the bunch. A jungle female, she looks so much like mom. Has pretty cool reddish eyes, and such a pale creamy stonewashed color to her. And she's always been sweet and never struck or bitten me.

And after her most recent shed. Sadly outdoor weather is behind us.

Next up is my second favorite, which is what the above girl would look like if hypo were added. haha She started out as the pissiest baby of the bunch, constantly striking and hissing. Now, she's only mildly distrustful and even sometimes tolerates me in shed. She hasn't bitten in a long time, but has hissed. Honestly my favorite part about this litter were the couple of babies that would hiss and strike at their food, and then hiss the whole time they were swallowing while I fed the rest of the litter. Absolute goofballs.

She has the most insane yellow background to her, and is the cleanest of the 3 hypo jungles I got. She leaves me speechless every time I look at her.

Then we've got this hypo gal. She looks like dad, minus the anery. She is an absolute standout amongst the hypos, she looks like a totally different snake between light and dark phases. She has a sister that comes *close* to her appearance, but is a far cry. She's always been a sweet snake as well, though a bit more watchful than her jungle sister in the OP.

This guy I'm not as sure about, I mainly just have him because I figured I should keep at least one male. haha But he has very strong contrast and popping bold saddles. He is by far the most curious of the litter, he's always the first one at the front of his tub ready to come out, but doesn't rub his face like the one girl who's also active. He's my favorite to handle, and is currently in shed. It's times like this I already miss being able to take them outside, because indoors just isn't the same. He's got a lot less pics than the others because he hasn't shed as much as them, this is just now going to be his 3rd shed, most of the litter has had their 4th already. He's also a pretty thick bodied boi, I love it.

He's the only male out of the litter atm that stands out to me as holdback worthy, I already sent off the only other male I would have kept. He's a clean, classic jungle, but I preferred this guy's darker saddles and stronger buckskin color.

I can see why you kept this guy!

I haven’t been a big fan of the chainlinks, but this guy’s color and pop has won me over. And he’s got such a nice demeanor too.

This girl I keep going back and forth on. She has some brown tones I'm not fond of am worried will muddy her adult color, but she's also very orange and has lots of potential. Her spot may be better suited for one of Nymeria's offspring, assuming she gives me a healthy litter in 2023, but I am so torn. lol I have plenty of time to decide, though!

This guy wasn't originally being considered a holdback, and if I hadn't added a bunch of new killer males, he'd be a no-brainer. If he sticks around, I may have to keep him anyways. The males are overtaking the females at this point, so leaning more towards not keeping. haha

He is currently the spiciest out of the litter, and hasn't adjusted with handling as well as the others. He hisses a LOT and strikes, but he is super clean and for a normal has some kickass buckskin and two tone color going on. I wondered for a bit if he was jungle, but I think he's just a nice normal.

Thanks! I’m absolutely in love with this litter, I cried when I saw them being born. They’re everything I was hoping for and more.

I do have a couple more to add to the thread, after one of my shifts and when I have the spoons. Haha
