The best Chrismas present ever
Friday night while I was holding Hyde I noticed he was making an odd sound. It wasn't really like a gurgle or a wheeze, but like he was pushing his breath out of his nose extra hard, and on the end of the breath was a very faint 'pop' sound. I imediatly went into panic mode thinking omg, he's got a RI and no vet's going to be open until monday, if even then... I compiled a list of herp vets within driving distance and got ready to start calling first thing Monday.
So, I had a really misrable 2 days, made even harder by the stress of Christmas and everyone wanting to be cheerful when I was worried sick about my snake. Then, last night about 11:30 I looked in on Hyde one last time to check temps etc, and lo and behold, an almost perfect shed
He had only about a half inch left on the tip of his tail, and I very gently pulled it off like a tube sock and it came right off.. thats when I noticed he wasn't making that funny noise anymore! So, I put him back in his tote while I went to get a baggie for his shed (don't look at me like that, yes I'm saving his first shed) and while I was doing that he was busy taking a BIG poo. I've never been so happy to be cleaning up crap at almost midnight on Christmas in my life.
I listened to his breathing carefully for a while last night and this morning and can hear nothing. So, my theroy is that was his 'unngh, got five mouses in the belly since last crap uurgh, gott push this out' noise (I know you all will appricate the sound effects)
All and all the best Christmas present ever! Slept soundly for the first time in two days. I'll have pic's up of my freshly shed boy soon. Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!
