New BP "Landlord" here. Need housing help

First time housing a Ball Python and after spending a couple of months researching I found a great companion. My question is about hides and whether I should be using sphagnum moss in the hide on the warm side of the enclosure? Also, when using a heating pad and a basking light is it fine to use no lights and lower the heating pad temp or should I use a CHE in the evening for the basking spot as well? And one last question. Is a 13W UVB 5.0 bulb okay for a BP?

moss in hot side if you have trouble keeping humidity up around shed time, but may not be necessary. BPs don't need light, and in fact don't like bright light. Belly heat is the best and may be all you need depending on temperature outside the enclosure. You have to just test the temps and see. CHE (on pulse proportional thermostat) would be better than a UVB bulb if you need something to bring ambient temp up past what the UTH can provide. UTH can be on any thermostat, doesn't have to be pulse proportional. Hard to see but it looks like a screen top? You may want to cut some pieces of plexiglass to block off some of that airflow if you are having trouble with temps and humidity.

Ball pythons are more of a nocturnal species. There really isn't a known benefit to providing UV outside of possibly helping a very sick BP recover or maintaining a simulation of a day/night cycle.
