Is he just a normal?
Hi, second post here. I have bought Adonis a few months ago now. He was sold as a normal but I was wondering if he had any other morphs too. I also bought his sister who is a phantom but I'm not sure about the parents. I noticed a few odd bright scales here and there but I don't believe that means anything. He might have a little stuck shed here and there as some pictures are older. Any help would be appreciated.

Ask yourself, why would anyone sell any sort of morph as normal?

Because the breeder had the possibility of normals in a clutch and simply missed seeing a morph in that one.
Because pet shops get wholesale animals that are misidentified, unidentified, labels mixed up, employees making it up as they go.
Because a casual breeder might not know quite what they're breeding genetics-wise.

So that people who know better can get a great deal? Lol
Like Sandfire Dragon Ranch sending a super hypo temper albino leopard gecko as a normal. Gorgeous girl for 20$ in my possession.
Super snow as a regular snow...
Silk back trans hypo bearded dragon as a leatherback....
That's just three of the animals I've seen mislabeled in wholesale.
Malum sums the rest up pretty nicely.

The sibling is a phantom, but do you know what other genes the parents may have had?
Offhand, I would say a very pretty normal. I love the bit of blushing he has. But the blushing, flaming and keyholes you would see in phantom aren't there.
Sometimes low expressions can happen with other genes that can be missed. So an idea of what might be there can help.

Re: Is he just a normal?
I would venture to say it’s a exceptional normal. Where i can see that there is true regality in this python. The brightened dorsal region on a darkened background I don’t think is really apparent. Although the alien heads hint that there is something that makes you go Hmmm. Then they continue on the length of the reptile as the typical alien heads containing the dual cheerios as opposed to the single cheerios you see in phantoms, purple passions, and that complex. He’s definitely a normal to keep.

Re: Is he just a normal?
I understand no one would purposely sell a morph as normal, but mistakes happen and I thought he looked very nice for a normal so gave it a shot here see if anyone can spot anything.

Definitely very nice. I think normals are underrated a lot of times just because they don't have high monetary value. Personally I think he is a beautiful example of what nature can do.
Also if I was a seller I would rather say a ball is a normal if I'm not sure than sell one as something else and it prove wrong.

Re: Is he just a normal?
I must say that most breeders will tell you they keep at least a normal in their collections. Some are hets and others are just normals that may be used to prove or disprove a genetic project. I personally have three , two are proven double het pair that I produced and 1 is a recent adoption male. The adopted male is one that the previous owners kept in a squalor environment and alleged he was a hisser and a biter. He never tried to bite me and since his living conditions were cleaned up (literally) he hisses very infrequently.

Re: Is he just a normal?
I personally don't see anything that just stands out to me for additional genes. Someone else might though. Of course Hets are always possible.
