6 month old male BP way too small

Hey everyone!

I've had my banana ball python for almost 2 months now and I'm having trouble getting his weight up. I'm not sure if he's naturally on the smaller side or if the breeder didn't feed him right, but if my digital scale is working, he's tiny.

He weighed in at 74g this afternoon, 10g up from last month.

His body doesn't look too triangular. He has taken every meal I've offered. He did have a regurgitation incident a few weeks ago, I'm not quite sure of the reason but he's kept down the past 3 meals. He eats every 5 days.

What should I do?

Small mice about the size (if not a little bigger) than the widest part of his body. I had him on fuzzies after his regurge though.

That sounds right to me. He could just be a slow grower, keep him on that 5 day schedule and he should be fine

I wouldn't worry about the number. Look the total picture. Stick to a feeding schedule and be consistent. As long as they weight keeps going up I would not worry just because you think it should weight more than it does. From the limited view in the pictures it looks fine to me.

Hello and congrats on acquiring the little guy. He looks great. Can you describe for us his living quarters and the temperatures and the humidity percentages ? Also how you have his retreating spaces?

Thank you! For sure! He has a hide on each end. A hot spot of about 89 degrees and a gradient to the cool side that doesn't drop below 75. The humidity sits at around 55%

Fantastic, how are you heating and regulating the temps in his environment? Just trying to tweak things overall. Prior to the regurgitation that he experienced, do you recall if he had enough time to digest the meal before he was handled? It’s great that he’s recovered from that over his last three feedings.

I have a heat mat with a thermostat as well as a ceramic heat emitter above on a dimmer (my house is way too cold to go without). I monitor the temps pretty closely to make sure it doesn't get too hot

He actually regurgitated before I got a chance to handle him
