    Is my tub too small?

    Hello!

I recently got an adult male ball python that is a bit on the larger end for males, although I can't give any exact weight or length measurements. He is currently in a 40qt tub. 16.81 (L), 7.8 (H) x 24.04 (W). Is this too small? I set up the tub before I got him, and he ended up being a bit bigger than expected. Does he need a bigger tub?

    Thank you!

He should be ok in it, at least through QT.

Okay thank you! I was originally planning on having this as a long term home for him, do you think that will be okay?

Yup, I have all my breeder males in 28QT tubs so a 40QT should be just fine

Depends on how much more he grows. Some of my adult males are fine in 32-qt tubs, others are fully as big as my females and are in 41-qt tubs.

My 2400 gram male still settles nicely in his FB-70. I'm sure your boy will be happy there.

My guy doesn't eat as well if he's in a 40 gallon terrarium. The 'smaller' tub worked wonders for his feeding habits. Almost identical footprint, just nice and short so he's snug.
