    Ball python questions

Hello I’m a new breeder of my ball pythons and I am on day 49 and I was just wondering how early is too early or risky to cut, also the eggs were incubated between 85-89 my incubator hated me or it was probably the thermostat on it. I just want to make sure to cut on time and have all the babies hatch healthy even if small. I have seven eggs and they all sunk in so it should be within a few days to a week left

I'm no expert but day 49 is definitely too early. Many snake experts wait until one egg has pipped before cutting the others (this is usually around day 55 for BPs).

Since you had a 4 degree temperature fluctuation I’d wait until you see the first one pip

If they are really sunk in, like >30%, cutting may not be the worst idea. I usually wait till one pips, which is almost always 55+ at 90F, longer at 96-98.

I would also suggest not pairing any other critters until you get the incubator situation settled. Typically you don't want temp swings of more than a degree.

You don't have to cut them, but once they have pipped it should be safe to.
