Man bitten by neighbor's escaped python while sitting on the toilet
Oops! This is NOT the way to make points with your neighbors! And I think the python's owner might be in trouble...
We as responsible snake-keepers must not allow these kinds of "accidents", not if we want to be able to continue keeping the creatures that fascinate us.
Snake bites make the news, even though there are FAR more bites from dogs (for example) & most of them resulting in far greater injuries- no, it's not fair, but that's the world we live in, & the way others perceive our pets. Please secure your enclosures! That's the only way we can help to change minds for the better.

Man bitten by neighbor's escaped python while sitting on the toilet
Story by Reuters

The man was bitten in the city of Graz, Austria.
Vienna, Austria An Austrian had the kind of morning that nightmares are made of on Monday when a python slid through his drains and bit him while he was sitting on the toilet.
The stunned 65-year-old in the city of Graz turned around shortly after 6 a.m. to see a roughly 1.6-meter (5-foot) albino reticulated python in the bowl, police in the province of Styria said in a statement.
"Shortly after he sat on the toilet the Graz resident -- by his own account -- felt a 'pinch' in the area of his genitals," the police statement said.
The snake, a constrictor native to Asia that can grow to more than 9 metres (29 feet) long, is thought to have escaped a neighbor's apartment unnoticed and slid into the toilet through the drains, though its exact route was still unclear, the police said.
A reptile expert contacted by the emergency services removed the snake from the toilet, cleaned it and returned it to its owner. Its victim was treated in hospital for minor injuries.
The 24-year-old neighbor, who owns 11 snakes, all non-venomous constrictors, has been reported to the prosecutors' office on suspicion of negligently causing bodily harm, the police added.

Wow, I can’t imagine. I’ve had nightmares about my snakes escaping their enclosures and “terrorizing” the neighborhood so I’m a tad compulsive about making sure all snakes and enclosures are secured, but I have made a couple of mistakes that thankfully didn’t come back to haunt me.

Can you imagine if this happened to someone while toilet-training their kids? SO not funny- more like PTSD-inducing. I sure wouldn't want to be in that snake-owner's shoes either.

You've got that right! Yow!
No matter what kind of pet you like to keep, no one has a right to let them roam & harm others, & unfortunately, most people are the LEAST forgiving when that pet is a snake.
I have to admit, a snake biting your bottom while on the toilet would be pretty awful, even if you love snakes. But worse yet, the victim who gets bit will probably be an unforgiving & vociferous snake-hater for life, so this is where any irresponsibility on "our" part as snake-keepers ends up biting us all- you know where.
