Re: Wanting to get a new smaller snake- trying to decide on which one

Thanks so much for your responses. It seems that they all have there personalities. This is a harder decision than I thought!
The corn snake would be the easiest as far as care and finding one, plus so many options!...however I have always loved pythons so I am still on the fence about the Children's, but have not actually seen one in person.

Welll....broke down and purchased a baby cornsnake. I was having a harder time finding older ones and she was too darn cute!

    Beautiful corn.

Quite a few corn keepers on here. We are here to help.

You truly cannot go wrong with a corn snake. But a baby corn is tiny, & needs time to be a baby first, with little or no handling. Let your snake eat, rest/hide & just be an unhandled-observation-only pet for a while...patience will pay off. It's not about them biting, you'd have to be really thin-skinned to feel the teeth of a hatchling corn snake- it's more like being bit by a sunflower seed with sand-paper inside, lol. It's just that they're so tiny, they need to get bigger & stronger. Also, remember that a hatchling corn snake can easily over-heat in your hands- we're about 98.6* & they prefer 75*-82*, so keep it short anyway. It's lots of fun watching these guys grow up & their colors evolve...
Rudeness is the weak man's imitation of strength.

Thank you. Yes she is tiny! I plan on letting her be for a while. I have a small set up for her as a baby that I double checked for escape routes! I have not handled her just let her climb out on her own and into her tank when she arrived. She has explored a little but mostly stays hidden, which I expected.

Card carrying member right here! If I had the space I’d have each one. I absolutely love mine. I wanted one, then saw one in a pet store and was 100% determined to get one after seeing it up close. It was FAR above what it should have been so I got one on Morph Market and haven’t looked back!
