Thoughts on what style AP Cage

This would be for a bigger Corn snake appx 4.5' and growing, and a BI Boa close to the same size....

The Corn is out in the main room, with ambient people temperatures 71* winter / 78* summer

The Boa is in a temp controlled snake room that stays at at 76* to 80* depending on time of year.

On AP Cages, for the same price I can get either a:

    T-18 60"Lx24"Wx24"H

    Or

    A-15 36"Lx24"Wx48"H

    Or

    A-20 48"Lx24"Wx36"H

So would the Terrestrial be a better fit with the bigger ground length?

or should I shorten it up and give them climbing height too??

and I guess a RHP is useless in a 3' or higher cage?? Just undecided which way to go for the money....

The terrestrial cage for the Boa. You might want the T25 instead, is also $399, better for a Boa.
And the A20 for the Corn snake.
My opinion/ This is what I would buy.

They're both primarily terrestrial snakes that will climb a little. I'd focus more on floor space than vertical space. A 4x2x2 would work well for either critter but a 6x2x2 with a shelf would be awesome for the boa.

Re: Thoughts on what style AP Cage

I would take floor space for both.

Boas need the space and corns will use it as they are active, but don't need that much room.

You want a good temp gradient for a boa especially, and although they can and will climb, think about adult size and how you will create a safe climbing environment. You also do not want to spend a fortune on heating the tanks despite room temp, an arboreal tank would be harder to get the warm side to where you want, IMO.

I would say 2FT is as high as I would go, especially if you are planning on handling the boa on a regular basis and giving him/her exercise that way.

I keep all my boas in 6X2X1' enclosures. I would love to give them a little more height, but floor space is more important and I have the tanks stacked - so 1FT high it is. I take them out regularly and let them "exercise" and even have foldable scaffolding for them to climb on.

I will say higher than 1FT is easier for cleaning, especially if not knees to chest high (how I have my tanks set up).

Long story short, 60"X24"X24" for the boa, or even 18" high would be good. Not sure if that saves you money, but if it does, might make sense.

For the corn, if stacking, he/she will use the space, but it's overkill. I keep both my corns in a 4X2' and that's overkill.

I would do a T10 for the corn. The boa could work too, but a T20 would be better.

I like 3' cages for corn snakes...I personally prefer glass tanks, so that's a 40 gal. for a corn snake, & they have enough height for branches to climb in also. Corn snakes
are NOT merely terrestrial...they love to climb & they do it well.

Your talking 3' width correct? not height.

I have Sicle the corn in a 36wx18hx18d front opening Exo-Terra right now, found some pvc 1" pipe and fittings in the garage and am trying to build a jungle gym
type playground that's fits in there with his hides ect. Figured he would like that, along with a hanging small basket you told me about earlier for him to hang out in.

Just figured the bigger the cage the better for his length.

I also have the hand built cage I got last summer when I got Cheyenne, It's in the garage trying to find the time
to make room for it in the house, and get it cleaned up and bought in so he has another play area when I have him out.

Also another question for you guys / gals.....

With a RHP in an AP type cage (pvc) The way they work, they keep the interior of the cage at a stable temp, So I'm less dependent on ambiant
    room temperatures?

So the house can be cooler, and I can easily keep the interior of each cage at a comfortable temperature for each snake?

My RHPs hold heat very well inside my pvc enclosures even during winter but I still boost my ambient room temps with a heater during those colder months.

How warm do you boost it too?

My house stays at 70 degrees or so in the winter

I'm not one of those who likes it 60 degrees that's too cold for me
