Pet snake missing more than 1 year found blocks from home in Boston neighborhood

Just goes to show, if a snake gets loose don't give up hope, they just might be found

Venkman, a corn snake, has been missing since last May.

His owner, Gene, searched for months but had given up hope.

His neighbor found the snake curled up under her car just three blocks from home, thriving in their Roslindale neighborhood.

Gene thinks Venkman survived thanks to the mild winter

What a happy story! I didn't think this would be a BP surviving the winter...corn snakes are AWESOME! Apparently they have a rodent problem they didn't know
about around those houses, though he could have been consuming a few birds too? Either way, he looks fantastic, none the worse for wear, & the neighbors were cool.

Corn/rat snakes can overwinter just fine so I'm not surprised it survived. Given that it was eating wild vermin for a year I would have it checked for parasites.

My thoughts exactly! I hope his owner thinks of that...

That's one lucky owner. I've heard stories of similar situations, where the snake will live in the house of months with out the owners being able to find it. At least this story had a good ending a lot of them don't.

Wonder if it bred with any wild ones? New blood in the gene pool.
