New retic set up
Hello I’m getting a retic in 2 weeks this will be my first it’s 62.5 sd lavender albino . I’m not new to snakes all the snakes I own now are boas along with my red tegu so I own a lot semi large reptiles. My question is I want set up a natural type tank with a soil/sand/leaf substarte. I know these guys grow fast and I’ll have keep upgrading tank sizes but I have lots of tanks and all the supplies so I’m not to worried about that. So what do you think about doing a setup like this for a retic

I had one just the same .. it had a lovely calm temperament ( uk though ) .. if only reached just over 6’ as well !!
I kept him on orchid bark with a ton of branches for climbing .
They’re very inquisitive and very fast moving when there’s the scent of food in the air !!
Oh and it never had a hide from day one as suggested by the breeder .
There were quiet ‘areas’ all over though

I wouldn't do sand. If you want natural substrate go with the orchid bark or cypress mulch.
Make sure any decor it can climb or perch on is sturdy and well-supported.

Re: New retic set up
Orchid or reptile bark are dark coloured and will make the Retic colours absolutely pop

Re: New retic set up
The sand is only about 10-20% of the mix , very similar to my boas mix I do use some
cypress mulch because I get it for a very cheap price I might add some with the leafs for a top layer. I do appreciate every ones feedback thank you
