Hello i have a 7 ounce 21 inch ball python. i feed him once a week and he is a perfect eater. he is on fuzzy rats. i don't mist his enclosure ( unless in shed) and he shed a couple weeks ago. He has a mild case of scale rot and i don't know what to do. his scale rot has gotten better since he shed but is still not gone. It is on his belly and i spray his belly 3-4 times a day with Vetericyn Plus. i dont notice any change. help me get rid of it please

Can't advise on what we don't even see... post pics please. May not even be "scale rot"- do tell us about his enclosure. (size, what substrate is used? -hi & low temps.- heat sources & how they are regulated?
humidity? & how are you reading his cage temps.?) Cannot help you much without more info...& even then, you might need a good experienced herp vet. We are here to educate & help, but cannot substitute
for your vet's assistance, if it's needed.

Re: BP scale rot PLEASE HELP
Scale rot is usually cause by bacterial infection, I keep a first aid kit of tamodine and f10 anti bacterial reptile ointment. Soak in water mixed with the iodine then barrier cream to stop bacteria getting to sore area. Vet told me about it from a previous visit works like a charm

Depending on where you are (country etc), another good option is Vetericyn antiseptic ointment designed for reptile use: it's water-based, so it won't mess up future sheds if you use much, as can happen with ointments made for human use, such as Neosporin, which is petroleum jelly (aka 'vaseline') based, which DOES mess with reptile skin. Diluted Betadine (povidone-iodine) is another option that is safe for snake use.
