Missing Scale?
My baby got herself between a door and a door jam and in the process of getting out might have ripped a scale. She just shed and now it is white and red. Will it grow back? Is this something to be concerned about? It doesn't seem to be causing her any pain.

A minor ouch, but the scale probably won't grow back...she'll have a small light pinkish/white spot there as a scar. Not a big deal.

Re: Missing Scale?
It does look like a scrape that removed the scales. They will improve over time with multiple sheds but as long as you keep it clean and infection free it shouldn't be any kind of long term problem.

Re: Missing Scale?
Is there something I should put on it to prevent infection? And how would I know it's infected?

Best thing is Vetericyn- made for snakes, a water-based* topical antiseptic gel- some pet stores carry it, if not, find online (Amazon). *In a pinch you can use a topical
ointment made for human use (such as Neosporin) but use it very sparingly, as the petroleum base can cause problems with future shedding (scales de-laminate etc.).
If you have Betadine (povidone-iodine) on hand, that's perfectly fine to dab on a snake wound also, & won't cause any issues w/ shed.
Like your own wound infections, you'll know it's infected if it doesn't heal, stays "angry" looking & oozes.
