I hate RIs!
My dumerils boa has been on amikacin for a couple of weeks now. She SOUNDS a lot better. At first she was gurgling and rasping majorly. Now, she just makes mostly a puff sound and a slight gurgle. However, I opened her mouth today and there was pretty thick slightly yellowish goo in there. Her gums look very healthy though, slightly pink, but no reddishness anywhere.
Does anyone know if snakes erm.. expel the goo from their lungs when the infection is leaving? Kinda like the last stage of a human cold? I'm going to call the vet anyway, but just looking for encouragment.. or advice. I have tough luck with sick snakes.

If its anything like a common cold, then I would guess that its hashing out the last bit of it. Lets see what the vet says. Keep ur chin up, I'm sure she will be just fine

I believe she is gravid.. I hope this doesn't harm her babies. I'm a worrier by nature.. agh.

How much background do you have on her? I remember reading somewhere that dumerils are the most inbred of boids in private collections, leading to an increased suscpetibility to RI's. I will try and find that site.

Here is the link. Their sources seem pretty credible.

I don't have much background at all.. I hadn't heard they were inbred. Makes sense though.. they can't be imported since they're from Madagascar. Probably wasn't a lot of snakes to start a captive population with.

She's going to the vet on tuesday, he's going to do a culture of the 'goo'.
I checked on her yesterday and there seemed to be less goo. She's still puffing her throat a bit though.
