Question about kids and snakes
So I had no idea where to put this, so I am putting it here. Somone posted a post about when to let their kids hold snakes. I have another question that is sort of related that I will need some parents advice with. I have a VE-6 for those of you who don't know its a rack system. I am trying to figure out how to make it kid proof so the kid wont be able to open it My idea is to drill a hole in front of the tubs and put a big lock on it so that the tubs cant slide out unless u unlock it.
Here is a photo:
So the holes in front take little tabs that keep the tub from coming out. My idea is to drill a hole big enough for a lock to fit through in front of the tubs, and then it will be locked shut. What do you guys think? I am asking because we are planning on trying to have a child.

There's multiple viable ways, but if it was me trying it, I would put a thin metal bar vertically along the front, then attach it at the bottom and top with locks keyed alike. that way you can prevent all of the them pulling out with 2 (maybe even 1) lock.

So I spoke to a friend and his idea is to take something like a hangar or antenna and put it through the holes to hold the tubs in. I would basically drill out the holes a bit bigger and put holes through the lip of the tubs as well.

I've seen this as well. Aesthetically, it's not the prettiest, but probably the most practical and effective.

Only issue with this is that u can fit 3 tubs in there, and if I only use 1 bar to close I wont be able to hold all the tubs in.

Yea, that way you don't need to do a lot of hole drilling either. just something attached at the top and bottom.

Oh yes, I see. Then I would do a horizontal bar at the bottom of each level. You could maybe do one side on a hinge and the other a lock.

Attach a conduit fitting to the center of the fronts of the top and bottom shelves (example: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Sigma-Elect...itting/1100267 )
Then run a cable lock through both, pull tight, and padlock. You can purchase the cable in whatever length you need and have the loops put on for the padlock.
