Why you stay out of the bathroom during a thunderstorm...
I grew up in a part of the U.S. where thunderstorms were frequent, & we were always told this, that lightning could hit a pipe & you could be killed sitting on the can or
while taking a shower or using the sink. Just saw this & thought I'd share it...glad I never saw this in person.

Lmao. I live in FL and in my experience, no one I know avoids showering or using the bathroom. I know my family and I had done showered, etc during storms and hurricanes. Not saying it won't come true but when you live a state that goes has days on end of storms, life has go on. What I did hear was not to use the faucet because you can get shock from the lightning if it strikes your home. I still use it away: those dishes are not going to wash themselves.
I even take my dogs out to pee during a hurricane. The patch of grass is 5 feet from the front door and you just got to look for that short 'calm' in between the crazy wind and rain.
I think we Floridians are so used to this by now. We have the occasional wandering gator, iguanas, Hialeah...

The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

I was raised with the fear of God to not take a shower during a thunderstorm or talk on the phone (when they were attached by cords to the wall). Nothing was said about sitting on the can though.
I think this whole conversation is going down the tubes

Oh yes, we had to stay off the phone too- thanks for the flashback. Of course that made some sense with a land-line...I think you're pretty safe on cell phone.

I recall watching a program on thunderstorms and lightning and I’m sure they said the safest place was in a VEHICLE due to the four rubber tyres ??
Sound feasible ??

I don’t think it’s because of the tires. It’s because of how it acts as a cage around you. Allows the electricity to flow around and not through. I’m using super stupid terms because, well, I’m kinda stupid when it comes to electricity.
As for the bathroom, I remember watching that 911 show as a kid and I’m pretty sure they said don’t shower in a lightning storm. So I avoid it, but like it’s been mentioned, sometimes it’s unavoidable. Like this morning lol

This is correct. Amps kill, not voltage (though they are related - Power = Current * Voltage) and amps measure the flow of electricity. With tires acting as insulators there is no flow.
Once you open the car door and step onto the wet pavement, all bets are off, so don't do that.

I had a roommate years ago that routinely did that to our toilet.
