Re: Hides
Go to WalMart or a local gardening center, pick up two plastic saucers(the saucer is the piece that sits underneath the actual planter pot and collects water). They shouldn't be anymore than $0.80-0.90 apiece, maybe less.
Cut a circular hole in the top, or a hole in the sides, and Voila, Hides!

Re: Hides
Like what? You can make hides out of anything. Disposable Gladware containers, small cardboard boxes, clay pot saucers...
Endless list...

Re: Hides
Another cheap hide my guy absolutely adores is a dog food dish big enough for him to fit under. Use the kind that have the handles that they can climb under, and they wrap around the round part under the bowl. He almost never leaves his dish, it's by far his fave because it touches all his sides and makes him feel secure.

1.0 German Shepherd - Ozcar (4 years, tub o' goo)

I have even used granola boxes to cereal boxes for some. The problem with those is that you can't get them out when you want unless you cut the whole bottom off. You can also use plain newspaper, just crunch it up a little and they will crawl under it.

For larger snakes, kitty litter pans are great.. just use a soldering gun to melt an entry hole.

Re: Hides
For REALLY big boas I use a plastic 30 gallon trash can cut in half longways with a power saw.. presto, two hides!
