Anyone own a GTI
So I've been recently kicking around an idea. Been debating trading my Mercedes in for a MK 7 or 7.5 GTI. Then throwing a stage 2 kit on it and probably free flow exhaust and down pipe. So I know the vw isn't going to be a Benz but anyone with one, how does it ride and do the MK 7 have any issues. Haven't found anything yet but looking for someone with one. I'd ask the vw and mbz forums but I'm sure they are going to be partial. Anyways here my Benz. Would get a red GTI as keeping black clean is a full time job.

Re: Anyone own a GTI
Had an A3 for a while. They are great cars, but do not expect the refinement of the Benz. They will be more engaging to drive however.
Do your research on what tune to use for the car and stick with that "stage 2 kit" and do not deviate.
I have the luxury of being 30 miles from one of the top tuners in the country and he custom tuned my Porsche 996 TT. He doesn't even mess with the 2.0L because everyone else does. He specializes in custom tunes and cars/engines he loves (Porsche Turbos, Custom Tunes for Heffner on Turbo R8's, Lambos, Ferrari, etc. and the 3.0L and 2.5L from Audi/VW). I've heard mixed things on the main tuners on these engines, but good things on the 2.0L, because, again, everyone has one.
I know it goes without saying, but keep in mind any tune or mods will void your warranty. Consider a slightly earlier iteration maybe and tune it so you aren't worried about that? Just a thought.
One thought is to go with the A3 instead. Similar price point and AWD and more luxuries. The price point is even more true if used.
Good luck and nothing wrong with a GTI in red.

Re: Anyone own a GTI
Yeah, that's why I was looking a mk 7. Those are the 2015-17 iirc. The 7 5 are the 18 and 19. I'd rather just go fwd. My Benz is a 4matic aka and and I was limited on my wheel selections unless I want the amg wheels. But to me, unless its amg, don't put that stuff on. The tuner by me is Achtuning who does only Audi, vw, bmw iirc. I was originally looking at an s4 Audi when I got my Benz. I personally love the interiors on Benz which is why I keep kicking the idea. I also was thinking of may e an amg gla45 or an amg a35 in a couple years. Just vw is a lot cheaper in every way lol.

I had a MK6...loved that car and never did any mods.
Not really a fast car but the entire package...torquey little motor that was smooth as glass, fantastic manual gearbox, great handling, easy and effortless to drive at 80-90% made it a blast. I especially liked sliding that car around on wet roads.
I'm not a fan of the awd version...didn't have the same feel to me. I suggest driving one...some folks fall in love, for others its not the right fit.
