so um should i switch it up often to keep him not picky or keep him on the same food?

If you switch food on him, he may not eat at all....but we have no crystal ball, it might be ok...it's just asking for trouble though. Your snake, your call...I wouldn't do it.
Many other kinds of snakes are fine with "variety"...for a BP, I'd say "don't push your luck".
