    Infared thermometer

Just curious from those of you that use them how you use them. I've never used one for my reptiles but just got one to play around with. Do you check the temps on the floors or the body of the animal when they are in different parts of the cage? I have big slabs of 3/4" thick porcelain tiles under my Che which read 91-92 degrees, cool side substrate is 77-78 and the shelves are 80-85 depending on the side. If I check the snakes themselves I get 88-89 hot side and 80-82 cool side.

I'm still pretty new to all of this, but those numbers sound good to me.
