RHP placement
Hi all! My Astrid is outgrowing the tub setup she is currently in. I have ordered a Boamaster 36x24x15 with an RHP. I want to be ready when it comes in to get started with setup, so I wanted to get some advice on placement. Should ithe RHP be all the way over the hot side, somewhere else?

Re: RHP placement
I have my RHP placed to one side and set at 90 degrees. This leaves a 90 warm spot and the cool side naturally falls to about 80 degrees.

If you want a temperature gradient you mount it to one side of the enclosure or the other. I installed a RHP from Pro Products and Bob suggested measuring 3- 4 inches over from one side of the enclosure and mounting it there.
Some keepers mount it in the middle to maintain ambient temperatures and add belly heat to one side for digestion but I’d prefer to let the snake decide where to find comfort.

Agree with both above. I choose a side and run my heat mat on the same side ...

Re: RHP placement
I set mine to one side (same side for an entire stack). For my 3’L x 2’D x 12”H, the rhp is set towards the back, about 1-1.5” off the back wall and side wall. Ambient room temp mid-70’s, hot end stays 88-90F (on/off thermostat) and cool end stays 79-81F.

Same for me.
I have a 2'x3'x12" RBI viv. I have an 80w RHP mounted all the way to the left, directly over the UTH. Temps are controlled by a Herpstat and the gradient is perfect.
RHP is set for 90 degree ambient on the left and that gives me 80 degrees ambient on the right.
